DAILY SCHEDULE (example)

THREE DAY CAMP – Day 1

Video Assessment: Throughout the 1st day, players will be pulled out (during drill or game time) one player at a time to perform a quick assessment video.
Paddle Demos: Players may demo paddles from the top manufacturers throughout the clinic, or after the PM session.

AM SESSION

This session will cover dinks and serve/returns. Each skill will have demonstrations and detailed explanation of technique and strategy, followed by drills and games to re-enforce each skill.

PM SESSION

After a break for lunch, we will cover various types of volleys, and the 3rd shot drop. Each skill will have demonstrations and detailed explanation of technique and strategy, followed by drills and games to re-enforce each skill. At the end of the PM session, we will have a break and then players are invited to open play mixed in with the instructors until dinner.

Dinner will be coordinated but not provided, after which we will have our evening activity. Evening activities will be decided by the group.


THREE DAY CAMP – Day 2

MORNING SESSION

The 2nd day AM session will start with an introduction to the importance of proper warm-up, stretching, and a simple routine. Following the warm up, we will cover the 3rd shot drop vs drive. We will have demonstrations and detailed explanation of technique and strategy, followed by drills and games to re-enforce the skill.

AFTERNOON SESSION

The 2nd day PM session will have a review of what has been covered so far, with question and answer time, as well as player demonstration. After the review, we will jump into “court awareness”, focusing on moving up to the NVL. Demonstration and detailed explanation of the philosophy and techniques will be followed by drills and games to help players internalize this skill.

At the end of the PM session, we will have a break and then players are invited to open play mixed in with the instructors until dinner.

Dinner will be coordinated but not provided, after which we will have our evening activity. Evening activities will be decided by the group.


THREE DAY CAMP – Day 3

Video Assessment: Throughout the 3rd day, players will be pulled out (during drill or game time) one player at a time to perform a quick assessment video. This video and the 1st day video will be sent to the players, along with an assessment sheet, so that they can track their improvement through the camp, as well as continue to track their progress in the future.

MORNING SESSION

We’ll start day 3 with the warm-up, stretch, and warm-up drill routine then we’ll launch into the next segment of “court awareness”, partner movement and partner communication. Demonstration and detailed explanation of the philosophy and techniques will be followed by drills and games to help players internalize this skill.

AFTERNOON SESSION

For the final portion of the clinic, we will work on an advanced shot, which is the NVL lob. The skill will have demonstrations and detailed explanation of technique and strategy, followed by drills and games to re-enforce the practice of how and when to use it.

The last hour of the session will used for a final review, Q&A, as well as a time to explain the video analysis. Groups will be formed to review and practice certain drills that the participants felt they need the most work on.

At the end of the PM session, we will have a break and then players are invited to open play mixed in with the instructors until dinner.

Dinner the last day will be coordinated to bring everyone together for the final evening’s activity. Please plan to attend this farewell dinner, if possible.

Rob Davidson lives in Saint George, UT, and is recognized as one of the top players and instructors in pickleball. He is a full-time instructor and is one of the first instructors certified by the IPTPA. Rob has won numerous tournaments as well as being a medalist in the US Open and USAPA National Championships. He is also a regular instructional writer for Pickleball Magazine. Based on clinic size, Rob is often joined by other top-ranked players and coaches.
